Throughout the world, everyone has different religious values and beliefs. Each religion is uniquely distinctive, however, the root concepts in most religions are similar. The most common religious perspective, but certainly not the only one on this topic, is that abortion is an injustice that is equivalent to murder. In Christianity, aborting a fetus is the murder of an innocent child.
Biblical Quotes
The Bible clearly states that all children are made in
God'simage and that we should accept the babies that God gives us.
"Children are a gift from God.” (Psalm 127:3)
God also warns against the killing of an
innocent being as it is sinful and will have consequences.
"Do not shed innocent blood." (Jeremiah 7:6)

Having an abortion goes directly against God's will. The Pope, arguably the most influential catholic alive, is a public opponent of abortion. He denounced abortion by saying, "Last century, the world was scandalized by what the Nazis did to purify the race. Today, we do the same thing but with white gloves." (ANSA) The white gloves refers to the abortionist. The Pope believes that legalising abortion is the equivalent of mass murder. This concept is common in other religions around the world as well. Traditional Buddhism rejects abortion because it involves the deliberate destroying of a life.(BBC) The Kaushitaki Upanishad is an ancient scripture that is applied to both hinduism and buddhism. It states that abortion is an equivalent misdeed to killing one's own parents. The fetus is held to the same standard as an adult because in the eyes of the Gods, they are equals. All life is meaningful, no matter what age. However, it is important to realize that not all religious believers are anti-abortion. As societies have evolved, so has the public's opinion on this important matter. In 2014, 82% of Buddhists claimed that they want to legalize abortions, even though their religion preaches against it. (Pew Research Center)
